Information Architecture

Because we were "refreshing" the portal and not the whole website, I could not make changes to the original and persistent global navigational structure, but instead retrofitted new navigation so that it adapted to the new proposed Employer Broker navigation.

I used tree testing with brokers and employers to determine the right navigational structure for the pages. Using their feedback and known usability "rules" we iterated until we found something that worked for everyone.

One of the eight drafts

I presented the feedback from tree testing to the portal manager and the designer and I started working on the first of eight different drafts of the IA.

I would present each iteration during cross collaborative meetings to ensure we were not missing anything.

Final IA

The UI developer had asked that I presented the final in a way where she could understand what connected to the existing platform, what was new, and where there were links to other pages, so I color coded and added comments.

This final worked well for her as well as the developers and designers.
